Trigger Point Injections

Trigger Point Injections (TPI) is a valuable option for treating pain in patients. It is a procedure performed to treat aching areas of muscles that contain trigger points (lumps of muscle that form when muscles do not relax). These muscle bulges can often be felt underneath the skin. Trigger points often irritate the surrounding nerves, causing chronic pain that often shoots to other areas of the body.

This procedure is performed by inserting a small needle into the trigger point. The injection contains local anesthetic, saline, or even a corticosteroid. This injection allows the problematic trigger point to become inactive and, in turn, alleviate pain. These injections only take a few minutes and can greatly alleviate pain and discomfort.
